2015 Lenten Opportunities

Our Lenten Season is full of opportunities to “draw near with faith” in Carroll County and the surrounding communities.
 
If we truly believe that all of life is a gift from God, we then understand all life as the activity of God and undertake every act as a response to Him. This response is called Worship.– Ethelene Sampley
 
Opportunities to respond at Sandy Mount:Devotional booklets for daily home worship
 
March Lenten Study – March 15th, 22nd, 29th Several United Methodist Churches are coming together for a meal, study and celebration. The event will be held at Sandy Mount UMC. (Mt. Zion, Westminster, Zion, Deer Park, Wesley, Emory, and Sandy Mount).
 
Palm Sunday Services – March 29th – 9:00 and 11 a.m. The beginning of Holy Week. Palms distributed at both services to celebrate Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
 
Holy Thursday – April 2nd at 7 pm. The congregation of Deer Park Church will join us for Holy Communion. The Tenebrae portion of the service will trace Christ’s last days and his journey to the cross. The choirs of Deer Park and Sandy Mount will present a cantata, We Remember Calvary.
 
Good Friday – April 3rd at 7 p.m. The sanctuary will be open all day for prayer. Our people will travel to Deer Park Church (7 p.m.) for a service based on the Seven Stations of the Cross.
 
Easter Sunday
April 5th at 6:30, 9:00, and 11:00 a.m. We gather at our outside worship area for a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m., then move inside for a light breakfast. Praising Grace celebrates with Word and Song at 9 a.m. A Traditional Easter Service will begin at 11 a.m. Our Chancel Choir and One Accord will sing.
 
Lent is the Church’s springtime. Out of the darkness of sin’s winter, a repentant and empowered people emerges.
