Reverend Dr. Robert E. Walker, Jr.
Reverend Walker joined Sandy Mount UMC in 2022. Reverend Walkers Spiritual roots began in Pittsburgh, PA at Triumph Church of Holiness. He served as a Sunday School teacher and assistant Superintended of Sunday School at the Triumph church and Bethel A.M.E Church in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1985 he answered the call to ministry at St. Paul United Methodist Church of Oxon Hill, MD. In 1994 Reverend Walker was ordained a deacon in The United Methodist Church. Then in 2000 he was ordained as an elder in United Methodist Church.
Reverend Walker has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lincoln University, PA, a degree in Automotive Technology from Rosedale Technical Institute, Pittsburgh, PA, a Master of Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity and he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Christian Counseling for The Family Bible Institute of Baltimore, MD. Reverend Walker has served at many churches like the Baltimore-Washinton Conference, St. Mark’s in Laurel, MD, Union Street in Westminster, MD, Mt. Olive in Randallstown, MD, Elderslie St. Andrews in Baltimore, MD, Christ Church in Aquasco, MD, New Covenant Wesley Memorial and Emmarts in Woodlawn, MD, Wilson Memorial John Wesley Waterbury Churches in Anne Arundel County, MD, The Monrovia Charge, Pleasant Grove and Mountain View United Methodist Churches in Frederick and Central Maryland Districts. Reverend Walker’s home church is St. Paul UMC in Oxon Hill, MD, one of the oldest black churches in Prince George’s County. Reverend Walker has established ministries for members in assistant living communities with a youth ministry. Reverend Walker is passionate about Social Justice and is active in Bridge Maryland Inc., a faith-based, social justice organization located in Baltimore, MD. In his spare time, Reverend Walker loves to fish, cook, and shoot pool, (billiards) and nature. He also has a passion for watching drag racing.
Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Bill Boyer
Bill is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Prior to retiring in 2005, Bill served as pastor of Prospect-Marvin UMC, Sandy Mount UMC, and Silver Spring: Oak Chapel UMC. Bill preached and lead worship in addition to singing in the Chancel Choir. He is a published writer. Bill and his late wife Mary live in Westminster, MD.
